Support Removing NP Medicare DIagnositic Testing Supervision Restrictions
Posted almost 5 years ago
Currently, diagnostic tests and psychological and neuropsychological tests are covered when performed or ordered by nurse practitioners, but Medicare does not cover these diagnostic tests when supervised by NPs. On August 3, 2020, CMS released the proposed rule for the 2021 calendar year Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
Notably, in this proposed rule, CMS is looking to permanently authorize NPs to be reimbursed for the supervision of diagnostic tests (currently authorized during the Public Health Emergency) for Medicare beneficiaries. Please submit comments to CMS in support of the authorization for NPs to supervise diagnostic tests for Medicare patients.
