Please join local nurse practitioners, Anne Mason and Sarah Fincham as they provide education regarding the evaluation and treatment of eating disorders.
Objectives include:

Become familiar with the prevalence and diagnostic criteria for various eating disorder diagnoses, including: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder

Understand typical clinical presentations of various eating disorders

Understand typical medical complications of various eating disorders

Become aware of the challenges associated with treating patients with the above eating disorders

Introduce other concepts pertinent to care of patients with eating disorders (weight bias, HAES)

This event and other high-quality CE events will be available at low to no cost throughout the year including a full-day spring education event, typically offering approximately 6 hours of CE hour. If you are unable to become a member at this time but would like to come and see what we are about, please let us know.

Speakers
Dr. Fincham serves as the Director of Faculty Practice, is a Clinical Associate Professor at Washington State University, and practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed a post-masters Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at Rush University and completed a community-based quality improvement project titled Increasing Awareness and Improving Uptake of HPV Vaccine. She received a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in the family nurse practitioner (FNP) track at the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Illinois Wesleyan University. She has practices as a nurse practitioner in the oncology, reproductive health, college student health, and eating disorders settings. She currently practices at the Community Colleges of Spokane Student Health Clinic on the SCC campus in Spokane and teaches in the FNP/DNP program at WSU.

Anne Mason is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Clinical Associate Professor. Additionally, she is a certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Across the Lifespan). Dr. Mason obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from University of Colorado-Denver where her quality improvement project focused on improving depression assessment and documentation of suicide risk in young adults accessing services in the college counseling center. As a psychiatric ARNP since 2005, Dr. Mason has practiced in various settings including corrections, college student health, private practice, and most recently with adolescents in partial hospitalization for eating disorders. Dr. Mason has taught at all levels of nursing education and is experienced in nursing education regulation and accreditation. Her scholarly interests are focused on nursing education, in particular with nurse practitioner students, telehealth, and mental health. Her funded research participation includes HRSA projects to improve interprofessional education in graduate nursing and ANEW grants. Additionally, she led the didactic education team in developing the National Telehealth Toolkit for Nurse Educators.
