Our speaker:

Virginia Valentine, APRN-CNS, BC-ADM, CDE, FAADE, is a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Sage Specialty Care in Albuquerque, NM. As an Advanced Practice Nurse, she provides clinical management and diabetes education for a wide variety of patients and clinical challenges. She is also Scientific Officer and Area Director for PromoLogics Inc., a specialty healthcare marketing agency exclusively focused on Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. 


Ms. Valentine received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing in Oklahoma City. She is Board-Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management and is a Certified Diabetes Educator.

In 2006, the American Association of Diabetes Educators recognized Ms. Valentine with its Distinguished Service Award and awarded her Fellow status in 2010. In addition to providing clinical management in a specialty practice, Ms. Valentine is Chair of the Advanced Practice Advisory Board for the New Mexico Board of Nursing, Deputy Associate Editor for Clinical Diabetes, an American Diabetes Association Journal and member of International Advisory Editorial Board for Canadian Diabetes Journal. She has faculty appointments with College of Nursing, School of Medicine and College of Pharmacy at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Ms. Valentine is the author of the book Diabetes, the New Type 2, as well as articles in various journals including Clinical Diabetes, Diabetes Spectrum, Disease Management, and The Diabetes Educator and Clinical Endocrinology News. She has been living well with type 2 diabetes for over 30 years.
